With the Philippine national election settling, we will revisit the astrology leading to the win of the elected candidates. While surveys were significantly accurate and precise in predicting the winners, we will look at the astrological factors that contribute to the popularity and the eventual success of the frontrunners. Instead of natal astrology, we will look at the election from the horary and mundane perspectives. With horary astrology, the querent had asked me if her preferred candidate will win the May 9 election. On the mundane side, we will look at the 2022 Aries ingress chart and the lunation (the syzygy) preceding the election.

Horary Astrology Perspective: Will Bongbong Marcos (BBM) Win?
Context: The preferred candidate of the querent is leading in all surveys with a huge margin. Polls show that majority of the respondents who preferred BBM are unlikely to change or switch to another candidate. However, the querent, still uncertain, wanted to know if he will really win. Below is the chart upon the inception of the question cast on May 4, 2022, at 4:43 pm here in Davao City.
Testimonies to Consider
- The Seventh House from the Ascendant and its rulers are the accidental significators of the matter being asked about and are the populace from the perspective of the opponent. The Ascendant and its rulers are the accidental significators of the opponent and are the populace from BBM’s perspective.
- The Tenth House from the Seventh House and its rulers are the accidental significators of BBM’s success in the election. The radical Tenth House (Tenth House from the Ascendant) and its rulers are the accidental significators of the opponent’s success in the election.
- The Moon is the natural significator of the querent and the populace.
Libra is rising in the hour of Jupiter. There is harmony by triplicity between the Ascendant and the planetary hour with Libra, a hot and wet sign, and Jupiter, a hot and wet planet. With the chart radical, I judged the chart. Although traditional texts suggest against judging the chart with a late-degree Ascendant, an alternative interpretation suggests that the matter asked about has already been decided and will conclude. The Moon’s presence in a double-bodied, air sign, and in the Eighth House but conjunct the Ninth House cusp shows the querent’s apprehension about the results of the election.
Our attention is now on the significator of the matter being asked (BBM) and we look at the Seventh House and its rulers. I assigned the Seventh House to BBM because they are not related. He is also not the querent’s friend or boss. Aries is on the cusp with Mars and the Sun ruling the sign. To put it simply, Mars and the Sun signify BBM.
We first look at Mars and we see him in the turned Eleventh House (it is in the radical Fifth House). Mars gains accidental dignity with him in this fortunate House. With the Moon as the natural significator of the populace separating from Mars, we have one testimony that most of the populace has already decided in favor of BBM. The Moon applies a trine to Saturn with reception because the Moon is in Saturn’s term and diurnal triplicity. Saturn is the ruler of the derived Tenth House from the Seventh House. The Moon translating Mars’ light to Saturn suggests the populace will bring BBM to power.
Another testimony to look at is from the Sun. The Sun is the exaltation lord and almuten of the Seventh House, thus he is also the alternate significator of BBM. The Sun gaining accidental dignity with him in BBM’s turned Ascendant is a fortunate testimony. Essential dignity-wise, Venus, as the Sun’s ruler and as the accidental significator of the populace (the radical Ascendant is the derived Seventh House from the radical Seventh House), is in Aries, the sign of the Sun’s exaltation. While there is no aspect between the Moon and the Sun, she receives the Sun in the sign of her exaltation. To put it literally, the populace (including the non-supporters) is exalting or putting BBM to a high post or in the spotlight.
The radical Ascendant is BBM’s opponent with it as the turned Seventh House from the radical Seventh House. Venus and Saturn rule the house with Libra on the cusp. Our attention first is on Venus and we see her in detriment in Aries. She is also in the cadent Sixth house. The condition of Venus by essential and accidental dignity portends a challenging testimony for BBM’s opponent. There is also no aspect between the ruler of the radical Tenth House and the natural significator of the populace (the Moon) and Venus, so we judge against success in the election of BBM’s opponent.
We also look at Saturn as the alternate significator of BBM’s opponent with him as the diurnal domicile and triplicity lord of Aquarius. Saturn is also the almuten of the sign. He is in the sign of his diurnal rulership and triplicity suggesting BBM’s opponent is powerful and also popular, especially with Saturn in the angular Fourth House and the Moon (the ruler of the radical Tenth House and the natural significator of the populace) applying a trine to Saturn. While the testimonies portend success, what makes this testimony not enough to put the opponent into power is the Moon ruling the Tenth House and not receiving Saturn; while Saturn (BBM’s opponent) receives the Moon (success and the populace), the Moon does not reciprocate Saturn.
With all these considered, I judged the success in favor of BBM. The testimonies from Mars and the Sun in relation to the Moon and the derived Tenth House agree to portend a victory. On the opponent’s side, the testimony from Venus does not support success, while the testimony from Saturn could show an advantage among other candidates but does not guarantee the win.
The Analysis from Mundane Astrology
Here, we will look at the 2022 Aries Ingress of the Philippines and the lunation preceding the election.
Context: The Philippines elects the president and vice-president separately, thus they could come from different parties. It is noteworthy that the party of an elected leader is the incumbent, and all else is the challenger regardless of an endorsement from the administration. The candidates encourage tandem votes; they encourage the populace to vote from the same party the president and vice-president.
The 2022 Aries Ingress of the Philippines
Sagittarius rises upon the Sun’s ingress in Aries. The figure below shows the 2022 Aries Ingress Chart.
The Significators of the Populace, the Incumbent, and the Challenger
- The significators of the populace are the Moon (natural) and Jupiter (accidental).
- The Tenth House and its ruler, Mercury are the accidental significators of the incumbent/administration. A planet applying to the ruler of the Tenth House or the Tenth House ruler applying to the significator suggests success.
- The Eleventh House and its rulers, Venus and Saturn are the accidental significators of the party of the incumbent vice-president.
- The Fourth House and its ruler, Jupiter are the accidental significators of the challenger for the presidency.
- The Fifth House and its ruler, Mars and the Sun are the accidental significators of the challenger for the vice-presidency.
We will prioritize the accidental significator of the populace and that is Jupiter. Interestingly, Jupiter is also the ruler of the Fourth House. It is at home in Pisces and we see it conjunct the angular Fourth House. What this means is the populace strongly prefers the presidential candidate coming from the challenger. It is also noteworthy that Mercury, as the accidental significator of the incumbent is committing its disposition to Jupiter by conjunction. There will be a transfer of power from the incumbent to the presidential candidate coming from a new party.
Our attention will now be on the accidental significators of the vice-president: Eleventh House, Venus, and Saturn (incumbent), and Fifth House, Mars, and the Sun (challenger). In the Eleventh House, we see the Moon at the very edge of Libra. The Moon leaving Libra for Scorpio suggests the change in the populace’s preference. Mars rules the Moon once it switches to Scorpio. Coincidentally, it also rules the Fifth House together with the Sun with Aries on the cusp. From these, we have one testimony for the vice-president coming from the challenger. Another testimony of the transfer of power from the incumbent to the challenger is from Mars, Venus, and Saturn. Here, we see Venus separating from Mars and translating its light to Saturn. The testimony from the Sun also shows a fortunate testimony for the challenger. The Sun is in the sign of its exaltation and accidentally dignified with it in the angular Fourth House.
The New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Taurus
There was a partial solar eclipse in Taurus on May 1, 2022. Shown below is the chart of the solar eclipse cast in Manila, Philippines.
The Significators of the Populace, the Incumbent, and the Challenger
- The significators of the populace are the Moon (natural), the Ascendant, Mars, and the Sun (accidental).
- The Tenth House and its rulers, Saturn and Mars are the accidental significators of the incumbent/administration. A planet applying to the ruler of the Tenth House or the Tenth House ruler applying to the significator suggests success.
- The Eleventh House and its rulers, Saturn is the accidental significator of the party of the incumbent vice-president.
- The Fourth House and its ruler, the Moon and Jupiter are the accidental significators of the challenger for the presidency.
- The Fifth House and its ruler, the Sun is the accidental significators of the challenger for the vice-presidency.
Similar to the Aries ingress, we will look at the Ascendant and see the eclipsed luminaries rising. The Moon is the natural significator of the populace and the accidental significator for the challenger of the presidential race, while the Sun is the co-significator of the populace and the accidental significator of the challenger of the vice-presidential race. Their presence in the Ascendant and their application to its ruler, Mars (the accidental significator of the populace), portends the winners of the presidential and vice-presidential races will come from the challenging parties.
We will seek testimonies from the other significators and we will start with the incumbent side (the Tenth House and the Eleventh House). Saturn and Mars are the accidental significators of the candidate of the presidential race from the incumbent party. The Moon (the natural significator of the populace) is not aspecting Saturn. Mars (the accidental significator of the populace) is in aversion (not in aspect) to Saturn. Mars as the co-significator of the incumbent presidential candidate is conjunct the unfortunate Twelfth House cusp and receives an aspect from the luminaries from the sign of his detriment. For the vice-presidential race, Saturn rules the incumbent and is not in aspect to both the natural and accidental significators of the populace.
On the challenger side, Jupiter is the co-significator of the presidential candidate. He is powerful in Pisces but in the cadent Twelfth House. This testimony portends accidental debility, and could be a challenging one. However, there is mitigation with Venus, the ruler of the eclipsed luminaries (significators of the populace), conjuncts Jupiter. For the challenger in the vice-presidential race, the same interpretation applies as seen in the first paragraph.
The incumbent party which the current president is affiliated with is the PDP-Laban while that of the current vice-president is Independent/LP. BBM, the winner of the presidential election, hailed from a different party that is the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP). Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio, the winner of the VP race is affiliated with the Lakas-CMD. Here, we see the elected officials coming from the challengers. Interestingly, the campaign slogan of the BBM-Sara slate is Uniteam. The Mercury-Jupiter conjunction in Pisces (a double-bodied sign) and the Solar Eclipse in Taurus where its ruler, Venus is conjunct Jupiter in Pisces show the themes of Piscean, Jupiterian, and Venusian dissolution of boundaries and unity.
